摘　　要： 赛珍珠的《大地》与斯诺的《西行漫记》是20世纪30年代西方描写中国最有影响力的两部作品,胡仲持是这两部著作最早的中译者,可谓赛珍珠与斯诺的中国知音。但作为翻译家的胡仲持却鲜为人知。本文对胡仲持的翻译实践和成就进行综合梳理与分析,并以其代表译作《大地》与《西行漫记》为例,探讨胡仲持的翻译思想和他为中国进步文化事业所做出的杰出贡献。 The Good Earth and Red Star over China are two most influential Western books on China in the 1930s. Hu Zhongchi is the earliest Chinese translator of these two books, but his translation achievements are known by few peo- ple. Taking Hu Zhongchi＇ s translation of these two masterpieces as an example, this paper conducts a thorough investiga- tion on Hu＇s translation achievements, his activities of organizing translation as well as his thoughts on translation.
