摘　　要： 本文考察赣南客家话和湘南土话的小称变调,并结合粤北土话的情况,推测它们可能存在共同的小称变调的来源,即早期名词后缀“子”缀或“崽”缀因“指小表爱”语义的磨损、消失而出现的一种“代偿”形式。 This paper focuses on diminutive tone of Hakka dialects in the southern Jiangxi province and Tuhua dialects in the southern Hu’nan province.The paper also assumes that the diminutive tone in these dialects can be traced back to the common origin with those reported in Tuhua dialects in the northern Guangdong province.With the early connotation of SMALL or AFFECTION indicated by the suffix Zi子or Zai崽being worn away,the diminutive tone came into being as a compensatory device.
