摘　　要： 对隐语与谐音进行专题研究，从历时角度出发，分析大量的谐音隐语，展示出谐音在隐语构成和发展中所起的作用：谐音是隐语与所指建立联系的重要手段之一；语际间的谐音运用，生成了一批特殊的音译隐语；为避免不吉的谐音联想而换讳，是部分隐语产生的直接原因；同音替代、近音流转，是隐语滋生繁衍的一种常见形式。同时，就一些具体的词语如“大腕”、“咸水” This paper is intended to make a monographic study of enigmatic words and homonyms. By analysing chronologically plenty of homonymic enigmatic words, the authors try to reveal the following major roles that homophony plays in the formation and mulplification of enigmatic words: a. Homophony is one of the most important means of assciating the enigmatic words with its implications; b. The transliteration of some foreign words results in some particular enigmatic words; c. Sometimes, people prefer to use an enigmatic word to replace what may cause inauspicious associations as a result of homoplony, which is the immediate cause for the emergence of some enigmatic words; d.using words with the same or similar sounds to substitute another homonym is a common way of the mulplification of enigmatic words. In addition, the authors advance some personal views on such specific Chinese words as “Dawan” and “Xianshui”.
