摘　　要： 《苏东坡》刊载于近代重要的英文汉学刊物《中国评论》第一期,也是英国人包腊《广东历史》的开篇之作,这些都表明苏轼逐渐被英国汉学界关注。作者在研读大量一手资料的基础上,梳理苏轼晚年流寓岭南的行迹和诗文创作成果,立足岭南,放眼苏轼一生,文献翔实,学术严谨。据笔者所见,这是英国汉学中对苏轼最早的专题论文,特别是其中对苏轼诗文的译介,是之前研究者所未提及的,对于研究苏轼在英国的接受史,有一定的文献学价值和学术史意义。 Su Tung-po was published in the first phase of China Review, one of the most important English sinology periodicals in late-Qing Dynasty, meanwhile as the opening article of History of Kwung-tung, whose author was Bowra, an British sinologist and official. That was the significant indication of acceptance of Su Shi in British sinology. On the basis of the study through a large num- ber of firsthand materials, Bowra compiled the trace and accomplishment of Su Shi＇s later life, with the abundance of documents and rigorous perspective. According to my scan, it was the initial study on Su Shi in British sinology, especially the translation of Su Shi＇s poems and essays, which was never mentioned before. So the research of Su Tung-po has the value of both philology and academic history.
