摘　　要： 在无法阻止阿连德当选为智利总统,且不能直接使用武力对付他的情况下,尼克松政府采取了"平静而得体"的政策来遏制阿连德政权。虽然美国表面上对阿连德的上台反应平静,与其打交道时也得体地按照国际惯例行事,不让人看出美国对他有任何不满的痕迹,但在这背后,美国综合运用政治、经济与军事上的软进攻手段来扶持阿连德的反对派、破坏智利经济,并向智利军队渗透,以期推动阿连德走向倒台。 Being unable to prevent Allende from being elected as the president of Chile,and unlikely to use military forces directly against him,the Nixon administration adopted a 'cool and proper' policy to contain the Allende government.America overtly didn't react strongly toward the swearing-in of Allende and worked with him in accordance with international practices,trying to hide any traits that would reveal American resentment at him.But,in order to subvert the Allende administration,the U.S.supported Allende's opposition,wrecked the economy of Chile and infiltrated its army with political,economic and military soft measures in a comprehensive way.
