Civilizations are always in a state of temporal and spatial movement. The space of a given civilization is changing all the time. Sometimes, it contracts; sometimes it expands. The expansion not only covers the increase of population identified with such a civilization, but also that of geographical space. Furthermore, it is worth noting that civilizations seem to move from center to periphery and then to center again. Currently, the Chinese civilization is moving from periphery to center with other non-western civilizations. Such movement is different from the past dominated by military conquests and political hegemony. It is now characterized by greater economic output and higher level of scientific, technological and social developments.
