摘　　要： 乔伊斯作品《阿拉比》是其短篇小说集《都柏林人》里的第三篇。作品讲述的是一个都柏林少年追求朦胧爱情,但最终梦想破灭的故事。故事情节很简单,但作者詹姆斯·乔伊斯,深受当时社会文化背景影响,在小说中运用了大量的宗教象征符号,隐含了深刻的象征意义。本文试图对小说背后的各种宗教背景进行解读以助读者对作品做更深的理解,进而领会作品里潜在含义:因宗教信仰的破灭,都柏林社会陷于一派颓废状态。 ＂Araby＂, is the third story of James Joyce＇s short collection ＂Dubliners＂, which is about a Dublin juvenile in pursuit of obscure love, but in the end his dream shattered. It is a simple story, but unthor James.James Joyce, with the impact of social, and cultural background, takes a large number of religious symbols, it is necessary to sort out and analyze the religious background to get further understanding of the intrinsic meaning of the work. This article attempts to analyze the various religious factors behind the story to help readers reach deeper appreciatiOn of the potential meaning： for the burst＇of religious belief, Dublin is in a pack of decadent state of society.
