摘　　要： 中日甲午战争之后,亡国灭种的危机鞭策着岭东地方社会通过新式学堂、运动会与纪念会等方式发展西式体操,从而达到护国强体的目的。清末西式体操在岭东的发展是进步士绅倡导和留日学生推动的结果。 The context of national subjugation and genocide made the people of Lingdong protect national and make people strong through in school,at sports meet and memorial developing western gymnastics after the first sino- Japanese war in 1895. The development of western gymnastics in Lingdong is the result of progressive gentny＇s advocation,which were pushed by the students studying in Japan in the late qing dynasty.
