The 1990s has been called the "lost decade" as regards the economy of Japan, which shows that the economy of the country has failed to recover after the collapse of its bubble economy and missed a whole ten years of development. The economic depression of Japan in the 1990s means, according to many scholars, "another loss of war" for the country, although this one is suffered in the economic battlefield. The economic defeat of the country can be attributed to such factors as "system" or "institution," especially when compared with the US that has successfully carried out its "system innovation" or "institutional innovation." Useful inspiration for the development of China's economy can be drawn from analyses of the system causes of Japan's bubble economy and from probes into ways for the country to pull itself out of the economic depression.
