摘　　要： 以宣扬暴力和野性著称的英国桂冠诗人泰德.休斯由于其前妻西尔维亚.普拉斯的死,一直以来成为众矢之的。1998年,休斯在《生日信札》中终于袒露心扉,对普拉斯倾诉了郁积几十年的心声。笔者以时间为顺序分析两人的相遇、相爱、婚变及普拉斯之死,来解读文坛的这段传奇,认为普拉斯的病态心理才是她自杀的根本原因,也是她和休斯的悲剧根源。 English Laureate Poet Ted Hughes who is famous for his advocating violence and predatoriness has been attacked for the death of his ex-wife Sylvia plath for over a few decades of years. Hughes has kept silent for over 30 years. However, Hughes laid bare their true story in Birthday Letters. A conclusion has been reached that Hath＇ s mental problem leads to her death and her tragedy with Hughes after a close study of Birthday Letter in terms of times.
