摘　　要： 姚锡光是清末民初一位有着多重身份的历史人物,从外交随员、督抚幕僚、地方官员,到考察教育、传播西学的教育家,以及锐意革新、兴办海军的军事家,关心边疆民族问题的中央政府官员,其一生经历丰富,著述颇丰。他的代表作有《东方兵事纪略》、《东瀛学校举概》、《吏皖存牍》、《筹藏刍议》、《筹蒙刍议》、《筹海军别录》、《姚锡光日记》、《姚锡光文稿》等,这些著作对军事、地方事务、民族问题都有不俗的见解,具有较高的参考价值。 YAO Xi-guang historical character has the multiple identities in late Qing Dynasty , such as the diplomatic attache, the Governor staff, the magistrate, to the educational inspector, the educationalist to disseminate western learning, strategist to firmly innovate and establish the navy as well as central authorities official caring for border area nationality question. His lifetime experience is rich and colorful, his works are quite abundant, of which representative works are Eastern Soldier Matter Summary, the Japanese School Lift, Archives of Governing Anhui, Plan the Tibet Hay To Discuss, Plan the Mongolian Hay To Discuss, Plan Navy Don＇t Record, YAO Xiguang the Diary, YAO Xi-guang the Draft and so on, these works concerning the military, local business, the national questions have the excellent opinions, thus they have the high reference value.
