摘　　要： 名词化是书面语的非标记形式,它反映了人类用语言重构自己经验的过程。高层次的名词化是抽象的书面英语的特征,大量出现在科技、人文和政府部门的语篇中。尽管许多语法模式都曾试图对名词化现象作出解释,本文却运用系统功能语言学关于语言是多层次的社会符号系统的核心思想,分析英语名词化现象的特征,指出名词化产生的过程正是新的意义的重构的过程,并从Halliday语言的三大纯理功能的角度探索名词化所建构的概念意义、人际意义以及语篇意义,揭示了英语名词化的建构性。 Nominalization is the unmarked form of written language, which represents the process of re-construing human experience with language. High-level nominalizations are prevalent in mordern scientific, technological and humanistic texts and governmental ducuments, which are characterized by absract written language. Although many linguistic schools have explained nominalizations from different angles, this article discloses the reconstructive essence of English norninalizations by analyzing their characteristics based on the assumption in systemic-functional linguistics that language is a multi-stratum and multi-functional system, and explores the ideational, interpersonal and textual meanings construed by English nominalizations from the perspective of the three meta-functions of language. This article thus demonstrates the constructivity of English nominalization.
