摘　　要： 在文集《美国性情》中,美国现代诗人威廉斯力避陈见,回归历史文献,谴责清教徒肇始的对本质经验的疏离,高扬早期探险者于土著印第安人身上所发现的本土关怀。他对历史的理解与编撰呈现出主体性和本土性的根本特征,浸润着诗的质地。威廉斯对历史的观照吻合怀特所倡导的历史修撰逻辑和模式,他的历史写作旨在探寻历史的隐含象征模式;另一方面,他的历史写作的话语生成模式也决定于隐喻式的历史话语。威廉斯笔下的历史人物具有神话原型的象征模式,这源于其"存在的历史相对论"的观念。 By returning to the historical documents, the modern American poet William Carlos Williams＇ In the American Grain reproaches the estrangement from experiences dating from the Puritans and eulogizes the native concern as reflected in the early adventurers＇ discovery in the community of the Indians. His understanding and compilation of history are permeated with subjectivity, native concern and poetic flavor. Williams＇ treatment of history echoes the history-writing logic and pattern as called on by Hayden White, and his historical writing aims to explore the hidden symbolic pattern of history. On the other hand, the pattern of discourse-formation of his historical writing is determined by the metaphorical historical discourse. Williams＇ historical figures are endowed with the symbolical pattern of mythological archetype which results from ＂existential historicism＂.
