The two texts Jun Zi Wei Li (君子为礼) and Di Zi Wen (弟子问) written on bamboo slips share many features in terms of the shape of the slips and the script style. Both texts present questions and answers between Confucius and his disciples, among the disciples, or between the disciples and other people. A large portion of the texts (Jun Zi Wei Li, Slips 1, 2, 3, and 9) is similar in content to "Yah Yuan Wen Ren" (颜渊问仁), a section in Lun Yu (论语), providing clues to the compilation ofLun Yu. In fact, the two texts could be treated as one that can be entitled Lun Yu Di Zi Wen (论语弟子问) or Lun Yah Di Zi Ji (论言弟子籍). Accordingly, Lun Yu should be compiled between the 1st and 3rd reign years of Lu Ai Gong (鲁衰公), i.e. 494-492 BC.
