This paper is to examine the character of Huck and Jim from the deconstructive perspective in Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The previous critics may devalue Huck and Jim based on their inherited ways of thinking.Employing Derrida’s theory of deconstruction, the writer overruled the critics’ conventional thinking of searching for binary oppositions the civilized/the uncivilized, the white/the black.Hence a new interpretation of Huck and Jim is let loose---Huck and Jim symbolize the challengers of the established system in current society. It is on this point that rests the novel’s value.
