摘　　要： 在启蒙主义思潮风行的17至18世纪,"天才"(genius)一词往往象征着高度的自由精神与强烈的个人主义,因而包含有浓重的反传统色彩。英国思想家休谟深入剖析了"天才"论的心理机制和文化内涵,最终指出真正的天才应该同时兼具公共典范和文化标准的角色,他们既是社会现实的镜鉴和良好政治的果实,更是个人与社会交流沟通的桥梁。因此,天才创造的范围也绝不仅限于艺术领域,而必然延伸至广阔的社会、文化和政治层面。 During the 17th and 18th century, ＂genius＂ often symbolizes a spirit of freedom and a strong individualism, which implies a highly anti-traditional significance. David Hume later made a thorough inquiry about the psychological origin and cultural meaning of this concept. He arrived at a final conclusion that the true genius should be both the public model and cultural paradigm. In Hume＇s opinion, genius, which is the sign of fine politics, can reflect the social reality and help the individual communicate with the community. Therefore, activities of the genius are far beyond the arts, and inevitably extend to the social, cultural and political areas.
