The Karamay Fire is a special accident in 1990 s. It was an extremely serious safety accident when it occurred, and subsequently become a public event with decades of discussion in the digital world. The present study employed social network analysis and LDA topic models to explore the overall memory structures of the Kelamayi Fire in Baidu Tieba from 2006-2018. Under the framework of collective memory theory, the findings suggested the duality of digital memory: on the one hand, digital memory is the abstract memory of the non-experienced participants, who plays the roles of producers, defenders, and verifiers and engaged in interaction, competence and gaming for the right to write memory. On the other hand, digital memory shows the "memory of the memory of the fire",which is composed by onlookers and mourners who participated but not by means of writing. Their activities in the pre-digital era were untraceable but are nowcapable of being captured, saved and analyzed via data mining technology. The writing and non-writing behaviors of online users construct a dual structure of digital memory.
