摘　　要： 在是否需要某种超验预设的问题上,保守主义一直面临两难。保守主义的一个重大挑战在于,能否在世俗时代坚守一套明确的价值标准。从源头上讲,保守主义并不仅仅是一种对传统的敬重态度或对社会变革的持续反动,而是对现代商业社会所体现的文明性的守护,其中最重要的是个人自由和财产权。同时,世俗时代的保守主义也要坚持功利标准,而后者则是迈向进步主义和激进变革的引擎,因而是冲破保守主义的“特洛伊木马”。进步主义所秉持的政治平等与经济平等的信念,尽管与保守主义相悖,却在现代社会直接或间接地引发了种种保守主义的身份政治形态,并悖谬性地构成了破坏文明社会建制的力量。 A dilemma facing conservatism has been whether a transcendental presupposition is needed or not.A great challenge for conservatism is whether it can stick to a set of clear values in the secular age.Originally,conservatism implies far more than an attitude of esteem toward traditions or continuous reactions to social changes,but preservation of the civility of modern commercial society,especially of individual freedom and property rights.Meanwhile,conservatism in the secular age should also adhere to the criterion of utility which triggers progressivism and radical reforms.Thus the utilitarian standard may be the‘Trojan Horse’that breach conservatism from within.Furthermore,the beliefs of political and economic equality held by progressivism,contrary to conservatism as they are,have provoked directly or indirectly several conservative forms of identity politics which paradoxically function as a destructive power against established civil institutions.
