摘　　要： 马来西亚素以多元族群文化共存著称,而马来西亚多元文化之发展却因殖民历史、民族国家、族群性民族主义、族群关系、现代化、社会发展等内外因素而显得动态复杂。不同族群对于国家社会的理解、认知与实践也使得族群政治贯穿于马来西亚国家建设进程始终,并成为国家政治与公共生活中敏感却又无法回避的重要议题。马来人、华人及原著民在马来西亚国家建设历史进程中的不同境遇及其应对策略,由此影射的马来西亚的族群关系、族群政治与族群权益,成为反思多元文化主义在马来西亚的实践的重要依据。 Malaysia has been known for coexistence of multiethnic cultures, but the development of multicuhuralism seems to have been dynamic and complicated in Malaysia as a result of the influence of such factors as colonial history, nation-state building, ethnic nationalism, ethnic relations, modern- ization, social development and so on. The ethnic groups show differences in their understanding and recognition of the nation-state and in their practice in nation-building. Ethnic politics has thus been playing a part in the whole nation-building process in Malaysia and become a sensitive yet unavoidable issue in national politics and public life. The ethnic relations, ethnic politics, ethnic rights and ethnic interests revealed in the different circumstances and coping strategies of the Malay, Chinese and indig- enous people in Malaysian nation- state construction provide an important basis for reflection on practice of multicuhuralism in Malaysia.
