摘　　要： 近代中国知识分子面临着双重任务：作为社会的中坚和政治精英，他们须肩负起救亡图存、改造社会的政治任务；作为文化的创造者和知识精英，他们又须承担起建构民族新文化的历史重任。换言之，近代中国知识分子必须一身兼任“文化人”与“政治人”的双重社会角色，具备政治与文化的双重关怀。遗憾的是，近代中国特殊的历史情境使得政治与文化的双重追求之间总是存在着难以调和的矛盾与冲突，并由此导致近代中国知识分子难以摆脱的内心困惑与身心煎熬。作为近代中国典型的政学两栖型人物，罗家伦的人生境遇及其思想历程为我们解读近代中国知识分子的生存样态提供了极好的范本。 The Intelligentsia in modern China are confronted by two missions: saving the nation from foreign invaders and create a new national culture.In other words,They are confronted with two tasks: on the one hand,they have to fulfill their work as social elites,and on the other they are unable to avoid getting involved in politics.But,it is a pity that,under the special historical condition in modern China,intellectual's double quests of politics and culture always faced uncompromising conflicts,which always led to insurmountable sufferings physically and mentally.As a typical character who had some influence both on political circle and academia,Luo Jia-lun's life plight and idealistic course was a convincing sample which helps us profoundly understand intellectual's existent predicament in modern China.
