摘　　要： 同音词是一个有趣的语言现象。本文首先提出从音、义、形三元对立看待同音词现象,进而对英汉语中多个语言现象（包括同音词）进行对比分析;并指出同音词的出现是必然与偶然的结合,同音词数量与音位数量不成反比关系以及同音词的产生及其修辞效果是人类认知的结果。 Homonymity is an interesting linguistic phenomenon. This paper first views homonymity from the tertiary opposition, i. e. sound, meaning and form and further conducts contrastive analysis on several linguistic phenomena containing homonymity. It points out that the appearance of homonymity is the combination of necessity and contingency; the number of homonyms is not inversely proportional to that of phonemes, and the appearance of homonyms and their rhetoric effect are the result of human＇s cognition.
