Roald Dahl,world-known author of children's books, also wrote short stories for adults, which are characterized by peculiar plots and unexpected endings. The Taste can be seen as representative of his short stories. This paper aims at exploring how Dahl made the seemingly simple plot and characters into an exciting story by tactfully employing such narrative strategies as focalization and linear narrative structure.
