摘 要: 本文立足于思想史的视野与方法,对太虚在20世纪20年代的世界佛教运动及其文明论述进行详密的讨论与分析。文章分别从三个方面来开展论述。首先,把太虚的东西方文明论放置在20世纪20年代中国思想界有关东西方文明与文化论争这一脉络中来加以审查,以深入理解太虚相关论述的思想史处境。其次,详细讨论了太虚欧美布教时的文明论论述,特别阐释他是如何"格义"佛教与西方的科学、哲学而另立新说的。最后,对太虚佛教世界化的文明论述进行评论,阐析其论述背后复杂的思想面向,特别是他的文明论述中所隐含的东方主义及其民族主义观念。 This article gives a detailed analysis of Taisu’s Global Buddhist Movement during the 1920s and his discourse on civilization in an intellectual historical perspective and approach.The discussion is three-fold.Firstly,in order to have a better understanding of its historical environment,this article reviews Taixu’s discourse on the western-eastern civilization in the context of the controversy over civilization conflict in China in the 1920s.Secondly,the article investigates Taixu’s discourse on civilization in his Buddhist propaganda to the western world,and especially demonstrates how he founded his own thought by intentionally interpreting Buddhism and western science Science/philosoph philosophy inside his own framework.Thirdly,the article makes a comment on Taixu’s discourse on civilization and global Buddhism,and reveals the orientalism and nationalism hidden behind his discourse.
