Boyd ’ s academic study is characterized by literary and cross - disciplinary, covering the multiple fields of literature, philosophy, biology, psychology, film, art and painting, etc. Boyd is an important scholar who furthers the study of literary Darwinism as well as an excellent reader and a biogra-pher of Nabokov. He has published many critical monographs with poignant views, convincing evidences and crucial influence, providing important literature references for the researchers both home and abroad. In the meanwhile, he has set an example and a paradigm of reader -response criticism through the close reading of literary texts. Finally, his embrace and practice of interdisciplinary study drive the further development of evolutionary literary criticism worldwide, foreshadowing the trend of this very criticism.
