摘 要: 认知情态是学术写作中的人际策略,它有助于作者表达疑问和体现读者意识。通过对自建的研究生学位论文语料分析后发现,研究生在认知情态的使用上总体是低情态值的表达要多于高情态值和中情态值,但在具体的用词上倾向于使用认知实意动词和情态动词,而忽略情态系统中其它表达式的作用。认知情态在语料库中主要实现了对命题的高度肯定和评价、创造作者和读者的对话空间的功能。 As an interpersonal strategy in academic writing,epistemic modality helps writers to express doubts and to show their audience-awareness. Based on a corpus of theses written by postgraduates in Gannan Normal University,this paper demonstrates that postgraduates prefer epistemic modality with low value to those with high value and with medium value. They tend to use modal lexical verbs and modal verbs to express epistemic meaning,while the other expressions in the modal system in English are less frequently used. In the corpus,epistemic modality mainly functions to show writers' evaluation on the proposition,or to create a dialogic space for writers and readers.
