摘　　要： 本文采用美国国家海洋和大气管理局公开的全球夜间灯光亮度数据,重新评估中国地区经济差距动态趋势。基于增长理论的趋同分析框架,实证发现,在1992—2012年间,中国无论是在省层面还是在地级城市层面,初始夜间灯光亮度较低的地区,随后都呈现出更快的夜间灯光亮度增长。这一变化趋势与人均GDP的变化趋势不完全一致。本文进一步发现,夜间灯光亮度与电力消费密集型的经济活动密切相关,在行政空间维度上呈现出显著的互动追赶特征。 We examine the trends of Chinese inter-regional nighttime light level in 1992-- 2012 in this paper. We find that the regions with low nighttime light levels initially exhibit higher nighttime light growth subsequently. This finding is highly robust. The mechanism behind this pattern is that the night lights are mainly generated from power consumption intensive activities, and these activities transfer to rapid nighttime light growth. The less developed provinces or cities have more rapid growth in power consumption intensive activities, then more prominent expansion in nighttime light. The nighttime light also shows significant spatial interaction, which may be caused by inter-government economic competition.
