摘　　要： E.M.福斯特是英国爱德华时期杰出的作家之一,《最漫长的旅程》由于故事的地域背景发生在英国本土、聚焦于英国文化而被称为福斯特的"英国小说",同时这部小说由于凸显了当时英国的一系列社会问题而被誉为一部典型的"英国状况小说"。通过对主人公里基个人人生悲剧的书写,小说折射出当时英国社会状况的诸多问题,显现出福斯特对爱德华时期社会语境的焦虑。 E.M.Forster is one of the most remarkable novelists in the Edwardian period.The Longest Journey is called Forster＇s English novel due to its English setting and English cultural background,and it is also a typical English conditional novel,since it is embodied with many social problems of that time.By depicting the tragic life journeyof its hero Rickie,Forster displays the social conditions of the Edwardian society,and reveals his deep concern and anxiety over English conditional problems and the future of England.
