教授治校与教授治学的兼容性及其现实意义

摘  要: 教授治校与教授治学是两种不同的大学管理理念、制度与实践,在中外大学史上各有其相应的案例支持,甚至出现在同一所大学的不同历史阶段。在大学共治的变革背景下,两者之间亦有相通之处和彼此转换的可能,关键是不能过于狭隘地理解教授所治之“学”、过于僵化地看待不断变化中的教授治校。本着求同存异的包容态度和辨证分析的基本立场,不妨将二者视为教授参与大学治理这个连续谱上的不同两点,承认其各自的合理性、适用空间及彼此间的兼容性,这样不仅有利于弥合学界的相关理论分歧,而且有助于推动我国大学管理的多样性与个性化。 Although faculty governance and professor's academic governance represent two different university management philosophies and institutional models, there are similarities and possibilities of mutual conversion between them in the context of university's shared governance. The key is not to narrowly interpret the academic nature of professor's academic governance, and not to rigidly understand the changing pattern of faculty governance. Therefore, upholding the inclusive attitude of seeking common ground from different claims and the basic stance of dialectical analysis, we could regard faculty governance and professor's academic governance as two different points on the continuous spectrum of professor's participation in university governance, and recognize their respective rationality, scope of application and mutual compatibility. This perspective will not only bridge the academic difference on the issue of professor's power, but also promote the diversification and personalization of university governance in China.
