摘 要: 在一些国内出版的辞典中,通常将跨文化传播的两个概念acculturation和enculturation分别翻译为“涵化”和“濡化”。本文通过对这两个英文概念的基本概述,从源头阐明其内涵意义,指出这两个概念在中文辞典显示的对接和翻译彼此错位,指出acculturation应与中文的‘‘濡化”对接,而enculturation应与“涵化”对接。在当今全球化时代,用“濡化”而非“涵化”对接acculturation,更能体现文化间的相互作用。 This article discusses the Chinese translations of two English words, "acculturation" "encultumtion" in intercultural adaptation. "Acculturation" is commonly translated into "hanhua" and (涵化) whereas "enculturation" is mostly translated into "ruhua" (濡化) in Chinese dictionaries. It argues that both translations are mismatched and they should be reversed. From an etymological perspective, this article posits "ruhua" is a more appropriate translation for "acculturation" and "hanhua" is a more appropriate translation for "enculturation". In conclusion, "ruhua" displays the connotative meaning of"acculturation" - cultural interaction, which is more clearly than 'hanhua' in era of globalization.
