摘　　要： 基督教在华传教士1877年上海会议对在华传教过程中遇到的宗教世俗化与本土化、医道传教、教育传教、报刊活动等议题进行全面的讨论和反思。大会引发了在华传教士报刊的世俗化之争，各差会传教士代表就合作出版“世俗化”和非宗教报刊、报刊采用中国方言和土话等本土化语言、报馆招募中国本土报刊代理和编辑等问题展开了激烈争论。会议所倡导的在华传教士报刊世俗化和本土化理念推动了在华外报的发展与中国近代本土新型报刊的兴起，为中国早期本土报人走向自主办报提供了借鉴，同时为西方科学和文化在中国的传播带来了积极的影响。 The General Conference of the Protestant Missionaries of China, held in Shanghai in 1877, discussed serial topics including native church and native assistants, relation of Protestant missions to education, medical missions, Christian literature and secular literature in the mission cause in China. In this meeting, the missionaries discussed some important matters such as the corporations among the mission organizations, publi- cation of secularization press and non - religious press, employing the native writers and reporters, some mis- sionaries advocated the localized missionary activities and secularization press, which had a profound influence on the foreign press in China and the native periodicals and press in China. This impact on Chinese journalism pro- vides opportunities and experiences for native journalists to develop, and contributed the introduction of western science and culture in China.
