摘　　要： 小句复合体是系统功能语言学的核心概念之一。尽管它与汉语的复句概念貌似雷同,但是两者存在着本质差异。本文从限定性的视角探讨二者的差异,指出作为小句复合体构成成分的小句具有限定与非限定之分,而构成复句的分句却无限定性之别;英语中的大多小句复合体无法满足汉语复句的界定条件。 The clause complex, a kernel concept in Systemic Functional Linguistics, shares some superficial similarities with Fuju, a concept in Chinese grammar. There exist essential differences between them, though. Adopting a finiteness perspec- tive, this paper addresses their differences and reveals that they are significantly different from each other in that clauses, as constituents in clause complexes, can be described as either finite or non-finite, whereas the constituents of Fuju cannot be so described ; and thus a large number of clause complexes fail to qualify as Fuju in Chinese.
