摘　　要： 墨西哥裔美国女作家桑德拉.希斯内罗丝是当今最具影响力的奇卡娜作家之一。2001年，其备受期待的长篇小说《拉拉的褐色披肩》出版，得到批评界及读者的一致好评。然而，针对这部作品的现有研究虽然注意到了其内容与主题的丰富，及其独特的叙事技巧，却缺乏深入的探讨。 小说所涵盖内容如墨西哥传统披肩般巧妙地编织在了一起。本论文以“转换”为着眼点，运用叙事学理论，重点研究小说是怎样通过叙述者类型、聚焦类型转换及情节的转换来表现丰富的内容和主题。论文首先着眼于文本中叙述者类型的转变，探究希斯内罗丝是怎样在关注少数族裔少女成长的同时，展现了与美墨历史紧紧联系的移民家庭的故事。而通过两个关注焦点的结合，作者表达了其对墨裔美国人，尤其是奇卡娜身份构建问题的观点。在此基础上，论文通过对聚焦类型转变的分析，分析了作者在小说中所展现的内容。小说中既揭示了墨西哥语族群，尤其是墨西哥移民及其后代在寻求个人身份所经历的挣扎与困境，同时又在读者面前展开了一幅关于墨西哥社会的丰富画卷，破除了美国主流文化中对墨西哥种族及移民的刻板印象，表明了个人寻求独特个性与多重身份的可能性。再次，论文从空间形式的角度进行解读，对各章类似电视剧集间的跳转进行分析，肯定《拉拉的褐色披肩》是一部具有代表性的奇卡娜女性主义文本。论文的最后部分，总结上述对希斯内罗丝小说的叙事学分析，肯定了作者对叙事手段和空间的运用。 The Mexican American writer Sandra Cisneros, is one of the most influentialChicana writers. In2001her long-awaited novel Caramelo is published and has sincewon acclaims from both critics and readers. However, though noticing the variousissues and themes covered in the novel and its unique narrative form, the studies onthis novel lack serious investigation on the link between story and narrative form. Focusing on the “shifts”, this study aims to apply narratological theories toexamine how, the multiple issues and thematic concerns are weaved in the novelthrough the shifts of narrator types, focalization modes and episodic shifts. Analyzingthe shifts of narrator types, the thesis first discusses the combination ofbildungsroman and genealogy, individuals’ lives and history. And the combinationdelivers Cisneros’s viewpoint on the construction of identity for Mexican Americans,especially for Chicanas. The thesis then analyzes the observation and presentationenabled by the shifts of focalization modes, which exposes the struggles encounteredby individuals in Mexican community, especially the struggles encountered byMexican migrants and Mexican Americans in their searching for identity. The shiftsof focalization modes in the novel meanwhile unfolds a panoramic picture of Mexicancommunity to counter the stereotypes of Mexican race and Mexican immigrantsexisting in the Anglo-American mainstream culture. Based on the analysis of episodicshifts, the thesis conducts a spatial reading of the novel to furthermore demonstrate that Caramelo is a representative Chicana feminist text. Thus summarizing thenarratological analyses above, the thesis arrives at a conclusion of the functions of“shifts” in the novel Caramelo.
