摘　　要： 概述汉语音韵和节奏的特点 ,指出汉语从单音节为主向双音节为主发展 ,多音节词语向双音节词语靠拢的趋势。因此 ,在英汉翻译中要充分注意汉语的语音特点 ,运用各种手段 ,如音节配合、音节调整等方法 ,使译文的音节更和谐 ,译文才能更地道。 This paper summarizes the phonological and rhythmi ca l characteristics of Chinese and points out its tendency to develop from monosyl lable to disyllable and from polysyllable to disyllable. Therefore, in English-C hinese translation should we attach importance to the phonological features of C hinese and employ various means,such as syllable matching and adjusting to make the rhythm of the translation more harmonious and as a result the translation it self in greater concinnity.
