摘　　要： 英语第二课堂是英语教学的一个重要组成部分,是英语教学过程中增加语言实践机会,创造良好的英语学习环境和提高英语应用能力的重要环节。它不仅是课堂教学的补充和延伸,更是提高英语学习者语言应用能力的有效途径。 The major significance and role of extra-curriculum activities lie in the fact that they are not only a supplement to and extension of the classroom teaching of English but also an effective means to improve learner's linguistic performance. In addition, they can also provide genuine opportunities for students to develop the awareness of involvement in campus activities and to bring their various potentials into full play. As a result, both their linguistics performance and their self-confidence and personality get enhanced. The actual experience from the authors' practice in organizing such activities speaks for itself.
