The difference between the so-called hypotactic English and paratactic Chinese language is most observable in the cohesion of textualization. As a surface feature of textuality, it is sustained by the cognitive underpinning of the text by way of presence and absence of cognitive slots. It is not accidental that cognitive slots in language correspond with the law of the Implicit/Explicit of Yin/ Yang of the objective world, which results in the face that Being and Not-being grow our of one another. This paper therefore argues that both English and Chinese are hypotactic as well as paratactic, and translation between the two languages can be perceived as a process of slot management.
