摘　　要： 通过对表音文字和表意文字在单字构形方面不同之处的对比 ,配合史书中有关中国古代特定时期书写条件的记载和能够反映这一特定时期书写条件的地下出土实物的分析 ,论证了中国古代典籍中文字书写排列形式产生的原因 ,并据此否定了西方某些学者所言“‘自右向左 ,自上向下’的典籍文字书写排列形式是中国人所天生具有劣根性的最初表现” By comparing between phonography and ideograms in word formation, consulting some records about the writing conditions in ancient China, and examining the unearthed relics which indicate the writing conditions during a certain historical period, this paper investigates the causes to the layout of the Chinese characters in the ancient Chinese classics, thus refuting the fallacy held by some Western scholars that the right-left and top-down layout in ancient Chinese classics shows the innate badness of the Chinese.
