摘 要: 大学英语学科的发展,既是全球化的进程,又和所在地的文化身份相关。作为华人地区以英语为教学语言的大学,香港大学英语学科变革史体现了后殖民境况下英语语言文学的教学和地方文化自主性建构的矛盾。通过梳理香港大学英语学科教研理念和体制的变迁,思考如何处理外语教学与本土身份之间的张力,探讨全球化进程中英语学科如何克服自身的意识形态性,介入社会批评。 The development of English as a discipline at university is a process of globalization,which is correlated to the local cultural identity. The reform of English Studies at the University of Hong Kong,one of the prestigious Chinese universities with English as the language of instruction,reveals a significant tension between English teaching and local cultural autonomy in the postcolonial situation. The essay examines the changing ideas and institutions of the English Studies at HKU,seeking to rethink how English as a discipline may overcome its ideological limits and commit itself to social criticism.
