摘 要: 叙事学是结构主义在文学领域结出的丰硕果实 ,它与传统的小说分析方法不同 ,主要着眼于对叙事的本质、形式及功能的研究 ,以挖掘出叙事的深层结构与叙事模式。法国叙事学家格雷玛斯深受结构主义二元对立假设的影响 ,提出了著名的“角色模式”和“语义方阵”两大概念。本文运用格雷玛斯的理论对美国著名作家埃德加·爱伦·坡的短篇小说《陷坑与钟摆》进行分析 ,结果发现在小说表面大量的心理描写掩盖之下的 ,是一种更深层的意义。 Narratology is the fruit of structuralism in the field of literature.Unlike traditional way of fiction analysis,narratology focuses on the essence,forms and functions of narratives in order to unearth their deep structures and narrative patterns.French narratologist A.J.Greimas,who is deeply influenced by the binary opposition hypothesis of structuralism,has put forward his famous'actant model'and'semantic matrix',which help to sort out the seemingly confusing threads and strings of narratives.In this article,the writer applies Greimas' theory to the analysis of The Pit And The Pendulum,a short story by the famous American novelist Edgar Allen Poe.As a result,a new layer of the novel is discovered under the massive superficial psychological descriptions.
