摘　　要： 人们在日常交往中,往往会策略地、礼貌地使用语言,以达到一定的交际目的。选择不同的情态动词对礼貌的有重要影响。文章从情态动词语法范畴入手,通过分析情态动词的可能级和可能相,来阐释情态动词与礼貌层级的关系。 People often tactfully and politely use language in daily life in order to realize some certain communicative goals.The use of different modal verbs will give rise to important impact on politeness.Focusing on the grammatical category of modal verbs,this paper tries to explore the relations between modal verbs and levels of politeness by analyzing grade of likelihood and phase of likelihood of modal verbs.
