In the poems of Frank O'Hara, the leading poet of the New York School, "leaf(leaves)" is a image that frequently appears, which shows his secret tie with a great predecessor Walt Whitman. Following .the images of "leaf (leaves)" in the two poets" poems, through comparative analysis to see O'Hara's imitation and parody of Whitman, it can be found that O'Hara consciously misreads some core concepts in The leaves of Grass such as the concepts of self, democracy, and city and adapts them to his own, which demonStrates a strong poet's creative depth and unique time significance.
