The morality of teachers is highly valued in Chinese culture. It has become one of the most important criterion for teacher evaluation. However, in an era of educational change, do teachers in the Chinese Mainland still uphold the values of morality? How is the efficacy of these values being realized? This study aims to explore how teachers in Mainland Chinese understand the issues of professional ethics in teaching. Research findings indicate that they have rarely developed an awareness of professional ethics in teaching, but they do not quietly accept the moral requirements imposed on them either.
