摘　　要： 在汉语语篇中,话题通常以原形、代词或零形三种形式投射到语篇各分句中,实现为各分句主语,形成话题链;但在英语语篇中,话题只能以原形或代词这两种形式投射到语篇各分句中,实现为各分句主语,建构话题链。本文摘取英语原著小说的部分篇章汉译为例,阐述汉、英话题投射机制异同点,并认为依循转喻建构的话题链是达成语篇内部结构完整、语义自然连贯的通达机制。 It is revealed that a topic finds its way in a Chinese text by means of an NP,apronoun or a zero-form and works as a subject,on the one hand.On the other hand,a topic is embodied in a corresponding English counterpart in the form of either an NP or a pronoun and functions as a subject.The present paper indicates that a topic chain is established by means of metonymy when a topic accesses itself to a series of subjects.It is concluded by claiming that the topic chain plays a crucial role in developing a naturally coherent text.
