摘 要: 《威尼斯商人》在清末、民国时期上演非常频繁,尤其是学校演剧和文明戏剧团的商业演出。莎士比亚戏剧在中国的传播途径众多,并非只有林纾译本一种影响源。我们对于莎氏戏剧及《威尼斯商人》演出背离原著问题应该辩证地去看待。莎士比亚戏剧在中国的早期演出具有特殊的意义和价值,而《威尼斯商人》一剧可以作为一个典型案例,较为生动地揭示出中国接受莎士比亚的特点、途径和方式。 Shakespeare's play, The Merchant of Venice, was performed frequently in late Qing Dynasty and Republic of China for different purpose. For example there were performances on campus or there were commercial performances. There were many editions in China. We should take a flexible evaluation about the deviation from the original. As a typical case, the play vividly indicates that the Chinese accepted Shakespeare's play with its unique features, methods and ways.
