摘　　要： "客邮"是指19世纪以来西方国家侵犯中国主权,在中国传递信息及物资的早期西方邮政系统。《在广州的十四个月》一书,是鸦片战争之后,1877—1878年"客邮"在广州发展的具体记录,也是"客邮"运作从秘密到公开、业务从部分到完整、影响由局部到全局的变化再现。可以从中认识书信在当时客居中国的外国人生活中的作用,理解"客邮"对推动中西文化交流及社会发展做出的贡献。 ＂Passenger Post＂ refers to the early western postal system in China that conveys information and sup plies. It is the tools of western countries to invade Chinese sovereignty in the nineteenth century. The book Four teen Months in Canton is a specific records for ＂Passenger Post＂ in 1877 1878 after opium war. It reflects the changes of ＂Passenger Post＂ that functions from being secret to being open, from parts to completion, with influ- ence from being a local one to a complex one. In addition, it can also be known that the letter＇s effect on the lives of foreigners which lived in China was great, and it can be understood that the effect of cultural communion between China and the west was also great and that ＂Passenger Post＂ made contributions to the societv.
