摘 要: 本研究以卡内基教学促进基金会2010年美国高等教育机构分类体系中297所研究型大学为研究对象,采取词频分析法对大学使命陈述中的关键词进行统计分析,揭示美国研究型大学的核心使命。实证数据显示,美国研究型大学有四大核心使命:研究与知识增长、教学与人才培养、公共服务与社会责任、国际化与全球视野。结合文献梳理和理论推演,研究考查了美国研究型大学核心使命的表现形式及其演变的历程和特点。 Based on 297 research universities from the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education in 2010, this study conducts keyword frequency analysis to examine selected keywords of mission statements from the websites of those universities, in a bid to reveal core missions adopted by research universities in the United States. The empirical results show that the core missions of research universities mainly include research and knowledge development, teaching and talents development, public services and social responsibility, and internationalization and global perspectives. Finally, dimensions and evolution characteristics of those core missions are explored based on empirical data, previous research findings and related theories.
