摘 要: 文章重点探究意大利著名学者劳伦斯·韦努蒂的"异化"(foreignisation)理论在翻译实践中尤其是文学翻译中的作用,"异化"的最大缺陷来自于其武断的本质及其对"调停"(mediation)作用的拒斥。文章借助于国内学术界既往相关研究论文的调查,进而对中国读者眼中的韦努蒂及其"异化"理论进行了新的反思与质疑。研究表明,中国孔子的"中庸之道",可以剔除韦努蒂理论中过于强势的因子,倡导一种中国式的"异化",亦即"归化"后的"异化",寻觅一种在全球化背景之下的"归化"、"异化"共谋之途,乃是尊重他国文化的至上选择。 This article is divided into 2 parts. The first part focuses on Laurence Venuti's Foreignisation approach to translation, and especially to literary translation. The paper suggests that one of Foreignisation's shortcomings is its prescriptive nature and its inadmissibility of mediation. The second part of the paper is a discussion of how Venuti has been received and interpreted in China through an analysis of all the articles. Results show that a Confucian cultural filter can be seen to be at work, which has filtered out Venuti's conflictual stance, tempering it with less extreme lan- guage, suggesting that foreignisation (or rather the Chinese Yihua) can be adopted alongside domestication working within globalization to foster more respect for other cultures.
