摘　　要： 近代以来,西方国家在社会管理领域进行了积极探索,大致可分为自由竞争的市场经济时期、混合经济时期和全球化的市场经济时期。在不同的时期产生了重要的社会管理理论,西方国家政府也据此进行了具有时代意义的社会管理探索和实践。这些理论和实践对今天的社会管理依然具有重要的启示。 Since modern times, western countries have actively explored various new approaches to social management. Development can be chronologically divided into three stages： the era of free market competition, the era of mixed economy, and the period of globalized market. Significant social management theories have come out of these different periods, and governments in the West have tested the different theories in practice. These theories and practices can still provide important inspiration for today＇s social management.
