摘　　要： 成立于1973年的美华协会最初致力于争取和维护华人的权益,在华人社区的影响力和号召力日益扩大。进入20世纪80年代之后,美华协会逐渐打破族裔的藩篱,不仅为华裔维权和谋福利,更努力联合亚太裔其他组织的力量,为全美亚太裔申权。美华协会在维护亚裔移民权利、遏止种族仇恨犯罪、消除主流社会对华人和亚裔的偏见、错误认知和刻板印象、争取亚裔选民权利等方面都做出了突出贡献。作为一个寻求平等权利和社会地位的种族利益集团,它采取了多种策略,包括与议员或行政官员接触、构筑联盟、抗议示威、影响政治选举、开展公众教育等方式来为华人和亚裔谋权益。经过近四十年的悉心耕耘,美华协会现已发展成为美国最出色的亚裔民权组织之一,许多亚裔美国人公认其为居于领导地位的美国华人社团。 The Organization of Chinese Americans （OCA）, founded in 1973, had originally been committed to striving for the rights and interests of Chinese Americans. After the 1980s, OCA gradually broke the ethnic barriers, and built coalition with other Asian American organization, with the mission of protecting the rights and advan- cing the well-being of Asian Pacific Americans as well as Chinese Americans. OCA has made great contribution in several aspects. As one of the racial and ethnic interest groups in the U. S. , OCA adopted diverse tactics, including contacting the assemblymen or executive officers, building coalition, protesting, exerting influence in the voting process, and launching public education, to advocate the rights and interests of Chinese Americans and Asian Americans. With nearly forty years＇ devotion, OCA has become one of the outstanding organizations of Asian American civil rights, and also been recognized as the leading association in Chinese community.
