This article aesthetically compares the ancient folk songs in the Yellow River Basin and the Yangtze River Basin from the perspective of literary geography. It suggests that the aesthetic features of ancient folk songs in the Yellow River Basin lie in their tall, robust, bold and unconstrained, and simple beauties, while those in the Yangtze River Basin lie in their slender, gentle, graceful and gorgeous beauties. As for the artistic appeal, ancient folk songs in the Yellow River Basin focus on momentum instead of literary talent, vice versa in the Yangtze River Basin. The aesthetic differences between the ancient folk songs in these two river basins are caused by their respective physical geography and human geography.
