摘　　要： 丰富多彩的同义词,一方面为人们准确、细致地表达思想提供了良好的条件;另一方面,又给英语学习者带来了困难。虽说英语同义词掌握了不少,但在使用方面却不如人意。其原因主要是对同义词的概念和其差异性缺乏了解。本文拟对英语同义词的差异性及其修辞功能进行分析,以帮助英语学习者加深对英语同义词差异及其修辞功能的了解,正确而有效地使用英语同义词。 Synonyms provide people with a good opportunity to express their ideas in precise terms and in detail on the one hand,but they bring a lot of difficulties to English learn- ers on the other.Many English learners have command of a lot of synonyms,but they can′t use them properly,which is the result of lack of knowledge of the differences be- tween synonyms.This paper will make an analysis of the difference and rhetoric func- tions of the synonyms in order to assist English learners in identifying and using them correctly and effectively.
